Sri Lanka
The economy in Sri Lanka is slowly recovering from a conflict between the government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam lasting a span of 26 years and ending in 2009[1]. Sri Lanka’s public debt remains at 79% of their annual GDP. In regards to faith, Buddhism is the predominant religion in Sri Lanka dominating the south while Hinduism is prevalent in north[2]. Christians have experienced persecution from Buddhist monks while Hindus also oppose evangelism and conversion to Christianity[3]. Additionally, Sri Lanka is a source and destination country for women, children, and men trafficked for forced labor and sex trafficking[4]. Let’s Pray…
-Holy Spirit, we thank you for the infusion of your presence throughout Sri Lanka. Help your Christians to live in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We pray that Christians would seek to love you with all their heart, all their soul, and all their strength for all their days. Jesus, we pray for these Christians to stand firm and be equipped with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, for their feet to be fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, for their shield of faith, their helmet of salvation, and their sword of the spirit, the word of God. Finally, let these believers pray in the Holy Spirit on all occasions. God, help them to love the hand of their persecutors. Yeshua, we pray that your angels go before them and behind them in protecting their paths.*
-Jesus, we pray for the militant Buddhist national groups and ask for your grace to pour over them. Jesus, help them remove the scales from their eyes so they can embrace truth, justice, and righteousness. Holy Spirit, help them know your presence and help them to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We pray for every person in Sri Lanka who does not know you to have their hearts softened for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Father, we pray for an explosion of your gospel in Sri Lanka, and we ask for millions upon millions to receive the blood of Jesus Christ as atonement for their sins. God, help them to seek you out with all their heart, soul, and strength.
-God, we pray over the government in Sri Lanka and ask for Godly leaders to rise up and lead through obedience to the Holy Spirit. We pray for wisdom on how to address the fiscal deficit and how to provide for the needs of the poor in Sri Lanka. Jehovah-Jireh, we pray for the provision of food, clean water, clothing, shelter, and education for your poor in Sri Lanka.
-God, we lift up the internally displaced population and pray for your provision for all their needs. We pray for strong communities to come together and support the displaced population in Sri Lanka, and we pray that you Jesus would receive the glory.
-Jesus, we pray over the trafficked women, men, and children in Sri Lanka. Jesus, we ask that you would pour out your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control on each individual.** Help them to know that you are God, and that you see all their pain. Jesus, we pray for freedom for the captives, and that they would embrace true freedom from sin through you Jesus. We pray for physical, emotional, and mental healing over the captives in Sri Lanka. We pray for those coordinating the trafficking business and ask for their hardened hearts to be softened to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Help them to turn from their sins, and to work for you, Yeshua HaMashiach. Jesus, use them to dismantle the trafficking business in Sri Lanka and around the world. Thank you Jesus.
-Father, help this nation to be fully yours. Help all people to know that truth, peace, and love are rooted in the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Help them to know that salvation is only found in you Jesus. We pray that the younger generation would seek out your truth, and that they would find you Jesus. Amen.
