Gibraltar
Gibraltar, a UK overseas territory is located upon the southeastern tip of Spain. This land was ceded by Spain after a war in 1713. Recently, tension has continued between Spain & the UK over this territory and taxation rights. A European court gave Gibraltar the right towards its own taxation regime, with the UK still being responsible for defense, internal security, and financial stability [1]. The population in Gibraltar is primarily Roman Catholic (78%). Economically, this country is excelling with successful industries in tourism, banking and finance, ship repairing, and tobacco[2]. Let’s Pray…
-God we pray for this nation to remain in your hands and under your care. May this community of 30,000 continue to remain in your blessing as they seek first the kingdom of God. May your Christians seek after you with all their heart, all their soul, and all their strength.* We pray over the Roman Catholic church and ask that they would be led by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. Jesus, we pray for your gifts of vision, grace, preaching, and salvation to be received by the lost.
-We lift up the Muslim population and pray for their hearts to respond to the calling of the Holy Spirit to receive your free gift of salvation.
-Father, we lift up the tension between Spain & The UK over Gibraltar. Father, let your peace continue to guide and protect this nation through all things. Let your hand be on the leaders of all nations and may it guide them as they serve the nation of Gibraltar. Let your will be done in Gibraltar. Amen.
