The Gambia
The Gambia is geographically located within the boundaries of Senegal. While Gambia maintains a high Muslim population similar to Senegal, they differ in which Christians are not persecuted in Gambia. Unemployment remains high in Gambia and nearly half of all Gambians live below the poverty line[1]. Gambia also serves as a home for 7,000 Senegal refugees[2]. Finally, Gambia is a source and transit country for children and women trafficked for the purposes of forced labor and commercial sexual exploitation[3]. Let’s Pray…
-God the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit, we come before you to lift up the nation of Gambia. We agree with your heart’s desire to know each and every Gambian. We lift up our Christian brothers and sisters and pray that they would love you with all their heart, all their soul, and all their strength.* Help your saints to praise your name with a joy that overflows onto their fellow Gambians. Lord Jesus, we pray for a flood of the Holy Spirit to cover Gambia. We pray that you would continue to raise up and sharpen your prayer warriors in Gambia, that they may usher in a powerful movement of the Holy Spirit in Gambia.
-We pray that you God would pour out your spirit on all people in Gambia, that their sons and daughters would prophecy, that their old men would dream dreams, and their young men would see visions.** Jesus, may they hear your voice, see you in action, and respond to your calling my Lord. We pray for each and every Muslim to know and accept the salvation found in our Lord Jesus Christ. Raise up your obedient servants in Gambia, that they may live out the plans that you have for them.
-Father, we lift up the poor and unemployed in Gambia. Yeshua, we pray for the cultivation of new agricultural land and the provision of many jobs for the people of Gambia. Father, we pray for the provision of food, clean water, clothing, shelter, and clean sanitation facilities for the people of this nation. Help them to know that this provision is a gift from our Lord Jesus Christ, and in his name alone comes salvation.
-God, we lift up the refugees from Senegal and pray for the provision of a new home and community in Gambia, and that they would find your community Jesus. Help them to know you Yeshua in their new home, and help them to find Christian community in their new home. We also pray for their basic needs of food, clean water, shelter, clothing, education, and clean sanitation facilities for these refugee families. Thank you Jesus.
-Yeshua, we pray that you would shut down the human trafficking business in Gambia. We pray for conviction of the Holy Spirit to fall on European travelers entertaining the idea of a prostitute. We pray for salvation to come to the oppressed and poor of this nation. We pray for healing and restoration over those held captive. We ask for repentant hearts to be formed in the guilty, and we pray your grace would lead them to salvation and restoration. Use these individuals to free the captive women and children in The Gambia. Amen.
