Eritrea

Eritrea is located in the North Eastern corner of Africa. This region is heavily populated by Muslims and remains an extremely dangerous home for Christians today. The Eritrean government sees Christians and evangelicals as a threat to national security because of their allegiance to God over the state[1]. The government has instituted a registration requirement for religious groups, but no registrations have been granted[2]. Unregistered groups are arrested and religious prisoners are sent to the harshest prisons and face the cruelest treatments[3]. Hundreds of Christians have been fleeing Eritrea each month and entering Egypt with the hopes of reaching Israel, attempting a 900 mile journey in which some die along the way and some are shot to death at the Egyptian-Israeli border[4]. The enemy of God has made it his agenda to eradicate evangelical Christianity throughout this nation, yet we worship a God of unlimited power and authority in Yahweh. Let us press forth the will of God to recapture the hearts and minds of the Eritreans, for they are God’s creation and they were individually and collectively designed to worship God through the blood of Jesus Christ. Let’s Pray…

-God, we pray for the spiritual protection of our brothers and sisters in Eritrea. God, help your people be still and know that you are God. That you will be exalted among the nations, that you will be exalted in the earth. God, help your people do everything through you, the one who gives us strength. Help your Christians love the Lord our God with all their heart, all their soul, and all their strength, so that when they endure the storm, their feet will rest upon the solid foundation of Jesus Christ. We pray for each Eritrean Christian to stand firm and be equipped with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, for their feet to be fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, for their shield of faith, their helmet of salvation, and their sword of the spirit-the word of God. Finally, let these believers pray in the Holy Spirit on all occasions. Father, we pray for angelic assignments to go with individuals and groups of believers for service and support and protection. We pray for angelic assignments to be given to those fleeing and seeking refuge in Israel to be protected and strengthened by your angels. Father, help those fleeing Eritrea have the strength and endurance along with provisions to complete the journey safely to Israel and find a new home in this land. For those in prison, we pray for a strengthening through your spirit and that you Father would lead them in your will unto freedom or heaven. Thank you God.*

-We pray for each Muslim believer in Eritrea. Lord Jesus, continue to let your face shine through dreams and visions, through divine revelations of you, and your love for them. Help your children to remove the scales from their eyes, so they might know the king of kings to be Jesus Christ. Yeshua, help this people group to repent of their sins and receive your eternal gift of grace Jesus!

-God, we lift up the government and those in leadership in Eritrea. We pray that every individual would know that you Jesus Christ are Lord and that all the kingdoms of the world rightfully belong to you Yeshua. For those that do not know you Jesus, we pray that you would deeply convict them of their sins, that they might turn from their ways and that they would turn to you Jesus. God, we pray for a radical change in government that would support the body of Christ, and we pray that no persecution would come from the Eritrean government toward your body Jesus. Jesus, we pray that you would take the reins of this government and that each leader would submit to the king of kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ.

-Yeshua, we pray for the poor in this nation. Father, we pray for the provision of food, clean water, shelter, clothing, education, and clean sanitation facilities for each Eritrean in this nation. Thank you Lord Jesus.

-Father, we pray for an end to the human trafficking of Eritreans. Lord Jesus, we intercede on behalf of the plans you have for their lives, and we pray that you would bring redemption to their journeys and the plans you have for each one of them. Jesus, send your Holy Spirit for the victims and potential victims to receive guidance and protection from the enemy, and that they might live for you Christ. We pray for those involved in trafficking others and ask that they would repent of their sins in the name of Jesus, and they would in turn bring freedom to the captives.

-We pray for an improvement of clean drinking water and improved sanitation usage.

-God, we lift up the refugees within Eritrea. Let your hand provide for their needs, and we ask that you would renew their lives and bring clear vision to where you are leading. Help them to build a personal relationship with you Christ where they seek to love you with all their heart, all their soul, and all their strength.** Amen.
