Burundi
In 2005, Burundi had undergone a major political transformation where every Burundian rebel group had signed a peace accord. Prior to the peace accord, violence was extreme between the Tutsi & Hutu people, claiming the lives of 200,000, while 48,000 were forced to take refuge in Tanzania[1]. Yet political disputes and civil unrest continue. Pray for an equipping of wisdom for the leadership positions in government. 68% of this nation is below the poverty line[2]. Finally, Burundi is a source country for children and possibly women trafficked for the purposes of forced labor and sex trafficking[3]. Let’s Pray…
-God we pray for all the people of Burundi, and we ask for your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, & self-control to fall upon your people in Burundi. We pray that each Christian would love you Jesus with all their heart, all their soul, and all their strength.*
-Father, let your peace overflow on your people. We pray for emotional & physical recovery for your Burundians who have lost loved ones or have suffered from the war. Help them to draw deeper into your love daily Jesus. Father, help them to draw from the wellspring of life, and may you Jesus be their comfort and their guide. Father, we pray for a revival through the Holy Spirit to take place in this nation. Father, let all things that need renewal in Burundi begin and end with you Jesus. Pour out your wellspring of life Yeshua.
-We pray for your protection God over your established government in Burundi. We pray that each official in Burundi would know you Jesus and be equipped with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, for their feet to be fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, their shield of faith, their helmet of salvation, and their sword of the spirit, the word of God. Finally, let these believers pray in the Holy Spirit on all occasions that they might serve you to the best of their ability. Help your people to be excellent stewards with the talents you have given them. Help them to multiply the talents you have given your servants. Yeshua, lead the actions of your servants so when they complete their journey on earth, they hear your words “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Come into your masters happiness”.**
-God, we pray for the poor in this nation, and pray that you would protect, provide, and pour out your grace upon these people in Burundi. We ask for the provision of food, water, clothing, shelter, education, and clean sanitation facilities. Thank you Jesus.
-Yeshua, we pray that you would shut down the human trafficking business in Burundi. We pray for salvation to come to the oppressed and poor. We pray for healing, restoration, and freedom over those held captive and those transported to various countries. We ask for conviction to fall upon the guilty, and we pray your grace would lead them to repentance, salvation, and restoration. We pray that the victims would have the opportunity to be reunited with their families or that you would create new communities for them centered in Christ.
